Established in 1994 (Macdonald Inspection in 1966) the Canadian Softwood Inspection Agency, Inc. provides inspection, certification and training services to the lumber industry. Our clients include sawmills, remanufacturers, finger-joined lumber operations, dry kilns, pallet stock producers, HT lumber producers, shippers and brokers. CSI is approved by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency as a service provider for the Canadian Heat Treated Wood Products Certification Program (CHTWPCP) including IPPC (ISPM 15) marking.

We provide grade stamping, re-inspection, mill audit, grader training, on-site grading and stamping services as well as grading classes to our clients and other interested parties. We guide our clients through the Heat Treatment Facility application process and assist them with producing their Quality Manual. We keep our clients informed and up to date on the latest rule and standard changes that affect their operations and the products they produce.

Our internationally registered trademarks are recognized and accepted in the global wood products marketplace. Our clients choose the CSI and MI certification marks to ensure unhindered access to markets and to provide assurance of standard compliance to their customers. Our clients manufacture and distribute over 1 billion board feet of lumber on an annual basis.
